dancers are fucking ripped.

My home girl and I decided to do a couple of classes at a barre studio while in Sac for the holidays. Buy one get one free she said. Okay I said.

Never have had dance training. The class is essentially dance warmups. Everyone was decked in lukulemon.

New respect for dancers. Not even a hotshot could finish this kind of workout. Lots of air humping and planks.

How does this have anything to do with fire? My supervisor once said that in order to last long in the game, having a strong core prevents most injuries. Also, its sad that I've become bulky without any strength in my core.  Some flexibility would be nice. Back to yoga, players.

Family priority

So what's been going on? Where are the goals, training reports, research? Slowly it is all coming together. It has been confirmed that I will be moving to Santa Cruz for a job until April 1st. Great place to train, despite the low altitude.  Fire jobs are coming out on USA jobs too, which means a lot of finger fucking my smart phone to scope them.

Neck deep in holiday reunions and plans, baby showers, birthdays, parties. Sure, ill do it. Family and friends are put on hold during fire season, so it is my priority to overdose on them during the off season.

Setting my plan of action up! Going to get there! Yes I am afraid of failure!

Research and Development

As anyone who has ever quit something knows, a lifestyle change takes a lifetime. Definately fear burnout, so a slow n easy transition into the training life may set us up for the long-term success.

As mentioned before, I will outline some specific goals. The obvious general goal is to be mentally and physically prepared for an entire season with an Inter-Agency Hotshot Crew.

It's the holidays and my sister and I have been experimenting with paleo on my family. it would be nice to hone 5 meals down, so if this project comes together allright I'll be able to cook paleo for my training partner and I.

About to send my original smokejumpers in to get resoled! They are fucking wrecked.

shotout to hotshot

Mission objective:

This space is for two girls trying to document the transformational journey into Hotshot ground pounders. A low-budget True Life: We're training for fire season. Or Made: We want to be Shot Girls.

My training partner and I are setting up the stage to train during CA's off-season. One possible relocation site is Santa Cruz.

Official start date TBA, mid-January perhaps.
We are hoping to capture the process of pre-season training. Collecting unemployment, eating cleanly, hiking and endurance runs, staying inspiried, and everything else that has to do with becoming wildland hotshot fire fighters.

Future posts will outline our backgrounds, goals, and progress.

Thanks for reading and joining us on our journey.
